Client: People For the American Way
The Right Wing Facebook was a parody site built during my tenure at People For the American Way during the 2008 Presidential primary season. The goal was to present the PFAW-researched links each Republican contender had with controversial figures on the far right - in an easily-accessible and entertaining way. I suggested we use a familiar idiom like Facebook.
Each GOP candidate had their own page, on which one could click on their "friends" to find out their ties to the political right. The site generated tens of thousands of hits in the first few weeks it was up, spreading widely through social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter and through traditional media mentions such as the Washington Post, Reuters, and The Atlantic - it even garnered respect from techies on the right.
The site was hand-coded PHP and Javascript.
